FAQs
What’s the difference between editing and proofreading?
Editing improves word choice, sentence structure and expression.
Proofreading catches surface errors, such as grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalisation mistakes. Proofreading is the final stage of the editing process.
My service includes both editing and proofreading.
How do I use your proofreading and editing services?
Send an email to jane@tecnigraphi.com.au with the following information:
- type of document (essay, proposal, presentation, novel etc),
- word count, and
- preferred turnaround time.
How long will this take?
I will reply by email with confirmation of the price and return date. If you are happy to proceed, I will send you an invoice with payment details. (Make sure to check your junk mail if you have not heard from me).
How do I pay?
I accept payment via direct deposit to my business account. Payment is to be made prior to the work proceeding.
Do I pay upfront?
Yes, I usually require upfront payment for my services. However, for larger jobs I can accept half up front and half before the work is returned. Please contact me to discuss further.
What do you charge?
For editing and proofreading prices start at $35 for 1,000 words with a sliding scale depending on the word count and the level of editing and proofreading required.
For all other services you will be quoted depending on the scope of the work required.
What files do you work with?
I edit Microsoft Word files using the track changes function with comments made in the margin.
What will I receive from you?
You will receive two documents from me. One will have the track changes in the body of the text (and comments made in the margin) and the other a clean copy with changes already incorporated. However, you are encouraged to review the changes.
Can you work with short turnarounds?
I understand that many students require professional essay editing just before their due date, and therefore a short turnaround is essential.
I aim to meet your requirements, however, if I cannot meet your preferred time, I will let you know.
I’m a student. Am I allowed to use your service?
Yes! I edit and proofread for language and flow, grammar and spelling. I do not contribute to the content. I do however make your existing content’s readability the best it can be.
